ABOUT SHNIT

Shnit is an international short film festival. It takes place at exactly the same time in Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Bern, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Moscow, San José (Costa Rica) and of course Cairo.
The festival presents during four days a proud selection of the best short films from all over the world.

All screening will be shown at KMT House in Maadi and ZAWYA (Cinema Karim) in Downtown.

The screenings at ZAWYA are 50 LE each and free entry at KMT House on a first come first served basis.

What is a filmblock?

What is a filmblock?

A filmblock is a 90 minute compilation of short films. They are composed by specific topics or genres. That means that you can pick a block according to your interests or take a gamble on our curators choices of pre-selected blocks.

How do I know when the filmblock I picked will be screened?

You find our detailed schedule on our Facebook group page and website. It is divided by day, and time.

Can I download the shortfilms?

Can I download the shortfilms?

It‘s the same as when you are going to a regular cinema to watch a film. People invested time and money in their project and should be rewarded for their amazing work. Therefore the shortfilms can not be downloaded.

The festival’s yearly cornerstone comprises 60 films from all around the world. The world’s best of the last year in all genres, fiction, documentary, animation and beyond. Jury- and audience- awarded in 5 categories.

We’re excited to share with you Shnit CAIRO’s 7th Edition and the 17th Edition for Shnit Worldwide Film Festival! We have a new collection of International and National short films that are original, provocative, edgy and have attracted critical acclaim and recognized for their creativity. We’ll be at our HUB in Downtown Cairo at Cinema ZAWYA and our new home in Maadi, KMT House. We’re screening the same programs simultaneously for the convenience of our audience so you can do whatever strikes your fancy! Catch a ride to Zawya for a show on the big screen or hang out in garden at KMT House and enjoy a beverage and watch the program in our screening room. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
